The girls' team: Getting their share of soccer action and fun.The first Soccer Clinic for kids kicked off to a flying start on 22 June 2003 at Katong Convent Secondary. A player volunteer from the newly formed Cornerstone Soccer Team of the Holy Family Church shares his experience of conducting the Soccer Clinic with us.

The original idea of a soccer clinic for kids was to raise funds for the Youth Council. However, the experience that came out for everyone involved was more FUN than funds!

The greatest satisfaction of the Youth Council members and the volunteer coaches were the thirty smiling faces after three hours under a glorious sun! The coaches were players from the newly formed Cornerstone soccer team of Church of the Holy Family. At the end of the session, the coaches silently confided to each other that the three hours were more gruelling than 90 minutes of competitive soccer!

Fellowship and bonds were also made during this period, not only among the kids on the field, but also between kids and their parents, who were on the touchlines. This helped to make the session an all-round family affair.

What made the soccer clinic so successful was one word - LOVE. There was so much love given by the eager parents to their children and friends. The coaches and the Youth Council members were so self-giving. The head of department of Katong Convent Secondary, despite his tight schedule, came personally to open the gates of the school, out of love.

With love in abundance, there was no show-stopper. With that spark on 22 June 2003, we are now pleased to see children and parents coming forward in waves, catholic and non-catholic alike, eager to give love to each other and bond as a family. This is only possible through the grace of God.

Parents and children are welcome to participate in Sports Sundays at Katong Convent Secondary on every first and third Sundays of each month. Pit your skills against others in soccer, captain's ball and basketball.
