LEGION OF MARY
There are 4 Praesidea in IHM:
1. OUR LADY STAR OF THE SEA Senior Praesidium - meets every Wednesday, 7.00pm at the Parish Centre. Spiritual Director: Rev Fr Jeannequin.
2. MOTHER OF VOCATIONS Senior Praesidium - meets every Tuesday, 7.00pm at the Parish Centre. Spiritual Director: Rev Fr Jeannequin.
3. OUR LADY OF LA SALETTE Filipina Senior Praesidium - meets every Sunday, 11.00am at the Parish Centre. Spiritual Director: Sr Theresa Koh, FMM.
The Legion of Mary is a lay Catholic organisation founded in Dublin, Ireland, on 7 September 1921, it has presently 2.5 million active members in over 160 countries. The object of the Legion is the glory of God achieved by prayer and active apostolic work. Legion work comprises the following:
• ministry to the sick, handicapped & elderly
• parish census taking & home visitation
• missionary activities
• dissemination of Catholic literature & religious articles
• youth apostolate & contact work
• teaching young & old catechism
Those who cannot become active members can become Auxiliary members by undertaking a service of prayer. They recite the Legion prayers, including the 5 decades of the rosary daily.
