The Vision and Mission Statements of the LMC

VISION - to be a co-ordinating body providing guidance and formation on the appropriate use of music in lturgy to enhance communal worship in the Archdiocese of Singapore.

MISSION - to educate, train and provide centralised resources for music ministers in the Archdiocese of Singapore.

"It is desirable ... to set up a liturgical commission to be assisted by experts in liturgical science, sacred music, art and pastoral practice ... the commission should be aided by some kind of Institute for Pastoral Liturgy, consisting of persons who are eminent in these matters, and including laymen as circumstances suggest".

"...every diocese, as far as possible, should have commissions for sacred music and sacred art".

"The musical tradition of the universal Church is a treasure of inestimable value, greater than even that of any other art. The main reason for this pre-eminence is that, as sacred song united to the words, it forms a necessary or integral part of the solemn liturgy".
