On the 9th
August, 2005, 25 Natural Family Planning Instructors from different
parishes in Singapore, came together to listen to Father Noel Chin’s
talk on Sex & Marriage, celibacy and family life.
It was a day of laughter and contemplation as Father
Chin unfolded slowly the in-depth teachings of the Church's dos and
don’ts into a sincere and deliberate understanding of God’s definitive
plan for us and His liberating truth as told by Pope John Paul II's
teaching in the “Theology of the Body”.
“Theology of the Body” consists of 129 collective talks of Pope John
Paul on the issues of the Church teachings on marriage and sexuality,
it brought about a new wave of revelation on Sex and the Culture of
Death in this world. It is now one of the most talked about subjects
in our church today.
We are in an age of sexual abuse, sexual discontent, abortion, high
divorce rates, pornography etc. Pope John Paul said that this is not
how God wants us human beings to be created for. There is this
“profound mystery” in sexuality that is more beautiful and more
glorious that fulfills the very meaning of our being and existence.
(St Paul’s letter to the Ephesians 5:31-32)
We like to thank Father Noel Chin who has so explicitly explained to
us these teachings. His wit and humour had transformed a profoundly
difficult subject into simplicity with careful basic logic. We were
all fully strengthened at the end of the day knowing now that we are
able to grasp and apply the basic teachings of the “Theology of the
Body” to our ministry and to the couples we are teaching.
“Man cannot live without love. He remains a being that is
incomprehensible for himself, his life is senseless, if love is not
revealed to him, if he does not encounter love, if he does not
experience it and make it his own, if he does not participate
intimately in it. This is why Christ the Redeemer “fully reveals Man
to himself.” - Pope John Paul II

Body”.
