The Week
of Guided Prayer begins on a Sunday
afternoon. We call this the Taster
Afternoon and in this session we teach
you, the pilgrim, two methods of praying
:
-
Ignatian
Contemplation
- a prayer method as taught by St.
Ignatius of Loyola (using your
imagination to pray the Scriptures)
and the other,
-
the Lectio Divina
(spiritual
reading).
At the close of the Taster Afternoon,
pilgrims are assigned their respective
prayer guide. On this day, pilgrims will
be given the first Scripture text to
pray by their respective guide.
Following this, the pilgrim meets with
his/her prayer guide at the Church for
half an hour every day of that Week
(Monday to Friday) to talk about his/her
prayer experience based on the Scripture
text that was given the day before. The
meeting time is mutually agreed upon
between pilgrim and guide. This meeting
is on a one-to-one basis. All sharing
will be treated in the strictest
confidence.
The Week closes on
the following Saturday afternoon when we
gather as a group for general sharing
and fellowship.
