Voices for Peace presents an interfaith concert |
We cordially invite you to join us at this special interfaith concert by Fr Cyprian and Friends.
For ONE NIGHT ONLY, Fr Cyprian will be giving a performance of his music in the Church of St Mary of the Angels on Friday, 19th Feb 2010 from 7:30– 9:30 pm. He will be joined by friends from various faith traditions, who will be performing music from their respective faith traditions or that was inspired by their or other faith traditions. Seating will be provided on a first-come-first-served basis. Come and join us for an evening of beautiful music and friendship, and for an exploration of faith through the medium of music.
Fr Cyprian Consiglio OSB Cam is a Catholic monk of the Camaldolese Congregation, musician, composer, author and teacher.
Fr Cyprian currently lives in Santa Cruz, California; he spends about half his time at home, and half his time on the road performing and teaching. Much of his music and his teaching revolve around the Universal Call to Contemplation through spirituality and the arts.
Over the years, he has recorded over a dozen albums covering a variety of musical styles that includes sacred chant, a cappella, oratorio, contemporary, Negro spiritual, and world music/ percussion, more than half of which are collections of original music. Fr Cyprian is a student of the writings of Bede Griffiths and Abhishiktananda and has a great love for comparative religion. He has dialogued with Hindu swamis, Muslim clerics and Buddhist monks and has successfully woven poetry and teachings from various different faith traditions into his more recent compositions. He has participated in and led inter-faith conferences and performances in the US, Australia, India, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore.
