Sep 03 - How To Make My Daily Examen? By Rev Fr. William Goh
Where is God to be found? We can find Him in our everyday experience. God comes to us through nature, created things, persons, external events and in our interior self, regardless whether they are pleasant or unpleasant experiences. But to encounter Him requires that we become conscious of His presence. This calls for a deliberate Examen of Consciousness whereby we become more sensitive to His presence in the daily events of our lives, and also those times when we fail to recognize His presence. By growing in awareness of God’s presence and His grace at work in us, we can live with joy and freedom at every moment of our lives. Daily Examen is therefore absolutely necessary if we are serious about deepening our prayer life and growing in holiness. Without spending time reviewing our day, how can we ever come to consciousness of the grace of God at work in us, especially in our trials and failures, so that we can make resolutions to change for the better?
